23andMe: DNA Genetic Testing

Human DNA is about 99.5% identical from one individual to another. However, there are small differences, called variants, that make each person unique. These variants can be linked to certain health conditions, traits and ancestry groups.

23andMe provides two Personal Genetic Services that require submitting a saliva sample using the saliva collection kit that you send to the lab for analysis. Health + Ancestry Service provides genetic health risks*, carrier status*, traits, wellness, and ancestry. Ancestry Service helps you understand who you are, where your DNA comes from and your family story by analyzing your Ancestry Composition, Maternal & Paternal Haplogroups, Neanderthal Ancestry, Your DNA Family and provide a DNA Relatives tool to enable you to connect with relatives who share similar DNA. The reports will be accessible online to share with family and friends.
